26Jan2010

Well it's a done deal now! I signed my contract and I leave January 26, 2010. I will be at Lackland AFB for 8.5 weeks (basic) and I should graduate March 26, 2010.

Wow. It took me by surprise because I thought it would be later then that but I'm happy that I finally have a set date so now I can relax and spend time with the people I love. I will be going in open/general which means no set job until I get to BMT. Keep your fingers crossed that I get a badass one!

Today Joe and I start "Operation Buff-N-Stuff" which already sucks, lol! My left over Denny's was calling my name..... along with the oreos in the pantry. To top it off... I had to give away my snickers bar, boooo! I had to settle for a rice cake with peanut butter and banana with plain coffee. I got some new running shoes and new workout clothes yesterday which was fun. I had to buy an extra pair of workout pants because they were so comfy!

What a dream....

I had a dream last night that my recruiter told me I was going to be a surgical Tech. and I was happy...but then he told me that I could have to deploy every 16 months.

I'm in the Air Force!

Well I finally joined the Air Force after 3 years of thinking about it. Last month I swore into DEP (delayed entry program) and now waiting to get a date to go to basic. I'm extremely excited about being in the Air Force and all the possibilities that I now have. It's exciting to be starting a "new chapter" of my life and to experience what is out there for me. My mom and dad have been very supportive of me and I am very thankful for that. My cousin Rachel and her husband have help me out alot and I would have been so lost if they were not there to answer my questions. My Dad has been there for me and it really helped me out knowing that I could count on him. He took me to Georgetown, more then once, to talk to a recruiter with me and helped out with everything. I just want to go in, do my best and be the best...or as close as I can get to it! I decided to join for 6 years so that will make me an E-3, Airman first class.

MEPS wasn't as bad as alot of people made it out to be, it was kind of fun. I got stuck sharing a room with a 17 year old girl who was super annoying, liked to act like she knew it all and talk back to the job counselors. We had a wake up call at 3:30 am, downstairs at 4 to eat and get on the bus before 4:30. MEPS took all day! We got there around 4:45 and I didn't swear in until 4pm. It was hurry up and wait kind of process. Believe me, there was aloooot of waiting. After all the physicals and testing, we had to wait for around 3 hours before we got to sit down with some one and do paperwork. My dad picked me up and I don't even think I stayed up for more then an hour before I passed out. So now I am just sitting around wondering what job I will get and when I will leave. Oh yea, and where I will be sent. That would be good to know. That's all I have for now but I will be updating this when things start to happen.
